The Priorities
A Safer Devon
We want to improve the quality of life for everyone in Devon by...
Tackling behaviour that intimidates hurts or offends people in Devon.

How Devon is now
Low crime levels in Devon make it one of the safest places in the country to live, but anti social behaviour is still perceived as a problem for many people living in our communities.
One in ten people each year is likely to be a victim of domestic abuse; since 2005 partnership work in Devon has encouraged 23% more people to seek help and support.
The level of youth crime is relatively low, being amongst the lowest for youth offending compared to other areas nationally.
The principal aim is to prevent offending by children and young people, and to support those 'at risk' of offending through early identification and intervention. Work with those who do enter the youth justice sytem for the first time is aimed at improving the life chances and opportunities for some of our most vulnerable children and their families, which will, in turn, have a positive effect on local communities.
How will we achieve this Priority?
By 2018, measurable improvements will have been made in the following areas:
- The causes of behaviour that intimidates, hurts or offends have been tackled.
